Fukuyama Castle is located in Fukuyama City of Hiroshima Prefecture. Even now, you can see the buildings of the castle, including its restored main tower, for example, from the platform of the Bullet Trains on Fukuyama Station. The castle was first built after the government of the Tokugawa Shogunate became stable. That meant it was newer than many other castles which were built when many battles happened. However, the area around the castle had had a long prehistory related to Fukuyama Castle.
福岡城は、江戸時代の間中、黒田氏が治めた筑前国福岡藩の本拠地でした。東西約１ｋｍ、南北約７００ｍの広さで、全国有数の大規模な城郭でした。これまでこの城は、その存在の割には注目されてきませんでしたが、最近は「天守」の話題で盛り上がっています。
今回は、福山駅福山城口（北口）の前からスタートします。この場所は、昔は城の三の丸だったので、振り返ると二の丸の高石垣がどーんと迫ってきます。三の丸は平地にあったので、今はすっかり市街地になっていますが、山の上にあった本丸、二の丸が「福山城公園」として残っています。本丸まで簡単にアクセスできますが、いくつかあるコースのうち、お城らしさをより感じられる南側階段ルートを行ってみます。
This article will start from Ueda Station which the bullet trains stop and it is a very popular destination. The center of Ueda Castle has become Ueda Castle Ruins Park, about 1km away from the station. However, the castle was larger than the park, which means we will see other attractions of the castle on the way from the station.
福山城は、現在の広島県福山市にあった城です。現在でも再建された天守を、福山駅の新幹線プラットフォームから間近に見ることができます。この城は比較的新しい城で、大坂の陣後徳川の天下が定まってから建設されました。しかし城が築かれた地域には、長い前史がありました。しかも築城した水野勝成は放浪武者だった時代があり、この地域に浅からぬ縁があったと考えられるのです。これらが結びついた結果が福山城やその城下町だったのです。
今回は、上田駅からスタートします。ここは新幹線駅でもあるので、賑わっています。上田城には、現在「上田城跡公園（うえだじょうせきこうえん）」になっている中心部分以外にも見どころがありますので、駅から公園に向かう間に見学したいと思います。公園に着いたら、櫓が残る本丸を見てから、自然の要害だった「尼ヶ淵」なども回ってみましょう。最後の方では、上田合戦のときに出てきた「砥石城」「神川」にも行ってみましょう。
Ueda Castle, which was located in the current Ueda City in Nagano Prefecture, is very famous because of the Sanada Clan. When the clan owned the castle, they repelled the invasions from the Tokugawa troops twice. However, the castle was destroyed by the Tokugawa Shogunate after the battles. After that, other clans rebuilt and maintained the castle, but they are not popular for the general people. Therefore, this article will describe not only about the Sanada Clan, but also the other clans (Sengoku and Fujii Matsudaira) regarding the castle.
今回のスタート地点は、那覇空港です。ここから、琉球王国建国ストーリーに関わるグスクを見学していきます。「ゆいレール」が延伸したので、浦添城も首里城も気軽に行けるようになったのですが、尚巴志ゆかりの地は、沿線から離れた場所にあるので、レンタカーなどを使って訪れます。
Let me first introduce you two courses going towards the current Okayama Castle. The first one is the course going to the front side of the castle from Okayama Station. The second one is that going to the back side along the riverside of Asahigawa. After reaching the castle, let us enter the restored main tower of the castle. By going to The Okayama Korakuen Garden, you will feel like the lord of the castle.

今回はまず、岡山城に向かうコースを２つご紹介したいと思います。岡山駅から城の正面側に向かうコースと、旭川沿いを歩いて、城の裏門側に至るコースです。城に着いたら、天守に登ってみましょう。その後は、殿様気分で後楽園にも行ってみましょう。
